The Fairmount room’s inspiration came not from Fairmount Avenue but from the Fairmount House which once stood where Townsends stands today.   Here at Townsend’s we have the same belief as former Proprietor of the Fairmount House, Ralph J. Renton which was “There is no surer way to gain the good will of the average man than by directing him to an establishment where he can get what is popularly known as ‘a Square meal’ at a moderate price.
