Townsend's is the culmination of a of a long cherished dream of Michael and Rosaleen Tallon to open a comfortable, upscale restaurant lounge in their home village of Hyde Park.
It is located _ 81 Fairmount Avenue, Logan Square on the Milton line. Logan Square and Fairmount Ave have a long tradition of Theater and night life. Boasting the Riverside Theaterworks and the hopefully soon to reopen Everett Theater.
Mike and Rosaleen believe that it is possible to have a warm, intimate and friendly atmosphere while maintaining a strong commitment to their profession and its etiquette.
They believe in the melding of fine beers as well as wine with food. To this end there is an extensive draft and bottle beer selection that is updated constantly.
Their sister storefront TC's Coffeehouse will focus on developing a neighborhood coffeehouse with fresh sandwichs and pastries daily. They will feature espresso, cappucino, lattes and fine teas.

Mike and Rosaleen Tallon have over 30 years combined experience in the hotel and restaurant industry. Mike spent nearly a decade at the world renowned Kings Head Pub in Galway, while Rosaleen was at that time one of the most sought after hair stylists in the same city. They came to Boston together in 1988 and immediately went into the hospitality industry. Mike with the Glynn Group at The Claddagh and later The Black Rose in Harvard Square. Rosaleen with Vinny Marinio's in Roslindale and The Galway House in Jamaica Plain. In 1994 they decided to buy the space that became The Kendall Cafe in Cambridge. After more than a decade of music and culinary excellence, garnering 3 Best Of Boston awards along the way and hosting the likes of Elvis Costello and Jewel, they decided it was time to move closer to their 7 year old son, Conor and their hometown of Hyde Park. They sold The Kendall and started on the journey that has become Townsend's Restaurant and TC's Coffeehouse.

To all Blues fans and jammers out there, please spread the word that there is a great place in Hyde Park called Townsend’s Restaurant & Lounge that has become a new home to Blues on Monday nights. Townsend’s is located at 81 Fairmount Ave in Hyde Park, just 5 minutes from both Roslindale Sq and Mattapan Sq, and has a great selection of beers and an amazing menu of award winning food.
Come join us at the 1st of many acoustic singer/songwriter nights at The Fairmount Room in Hyde Park. Former owner of the Kendall Cafe, Mike Tallon, and myself, are committed to reviving the acoustic music scene in the Boston area.

The owner of Townsend’s, Mike Tallon, has welcomed music on a weeknight when so many others have shut down entertainment in their restaurants/clubs.The house band features 3 of the best players in town - Mario Perrett on saxophone & vocals, Ed Scheer on drums & vocals, and Randy Bramwell on bass. Plus, each Monday there is a special guest on guitar and/or keys to round out the quartet. Such multi-talented artists as Joe Bargar, Ricky “King” Russell and Chris “Stovall” Brown, to name a few. As time goes on we hope to expand the format to include other instrumentalists & singers. Jammers are welcome in the 2nd set, and you never know what other local stars will stop by! It’s a casual friendly atmosphere where the music comes first. Please put the word out in any way you can and we hope to see you some Monday night soon.
